Sleeping
We have only rented houses in St. Thomas, and we do day trips to the other islands. You will always hear out the Ritz on St. Thomas Ritz on St. Thomas. However, we have loved our house experiences.
Villa Harmony, a 5 bedroom and 4 bath home, is located in the Mahogany Run neighborhood, that was formerly a golf course community (destroyed in a 2017 hurricane). This home overlooks the uninhabited and undeveloped island of Hans Lollik and the other islands are to the east. There is plenty of space to spread out, especially if you need some quiet time (in doors and out). We love the open kitchen and living area.
The prior year (2022), we rented a home that we one via a silent auction during 2020. The auction came available when Georgia shut down lodging March or April(sh). We bid and won this in readable home at such a great deal. The pictures are amazing but no picture does the views justice on this island. This home is in the Peterborg neighborhood.
*Most of the homes are not going to be walking distance to anything. Unless you stay in a resort, you’ll need transportation.
TRANSPORTATION: The one and only, Mrs. Kay!!
Eating
Caveat: We eat breakfast at the house and cook most of our dinners. This is not the best spot to get dinner suggestions!
Our driver took us here on our first night the first time we visited St. Thomas, and we fell in love. This is a local dive bar with a chef. Super casual but food is awesome! Try anything with conch, and you must have a Mama Juanna shot or two :). Don’t insult the servers by suggesting that it tastes like fireball. We went back again for dinner and hanging with the locals. The trick is to order food when you arrive and stay for a while. Don’t be in a rush. Either take the food home with you or eat there. On our second trip to the island, this is the only place we have dinner out.
There are several different grocery store options on the island, but we like Moe’s in Red Hook the best. It has a good variety, and it also has wine and liquor upstairs.
